The Basic Steps to Obtain Your LTC

The first step to becoming a responsible gun owner in Massachusetts is by getting your License to Carry or your Firearms ID. Check out the steps below for a brief overview of how to obtain your gun license. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call or send an email. We provide the Massachusetts Gun Safety Course almost every Saturday at our store at 11:00am. Click here to sign up.

Step 1:

Sign up for the Massachusetts Gun Safety Course – this class is offered almost every Saturday at On Target Training! This course costs $100 and is REQUIRED to obtain your LTC or FID.

Step 2:

Attend the Safety Course you have signed up for and if you pass, you will receive a certificate confirming you have completed the class.

Step 3:

Once you have your certificate in hand, you can then schedule your interview with your town of residence’s police department.

Step 4:

Prior to your interview appointment, you will have to complete the LTC/FID Application form. This form can be found here – bring the completed form to your appointment.

Step 5:

If the Licensing Officer approves your application, you will receive the necessary paperwork and official LTC or FID within six to eight weeks.

Step 6:

Get out there and buy your first official firearm from On Target Training!
