We could probably compile a list of 500 reasons to own a firearm, but instead decided to go with some of the top three. If you’re still not sold on a reason to own a gun, check out our list below or give us a call and we can hopefully convince you.
1. Practicing Your Rights
The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights states the following, “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In basic terms, this means that we as Americans have a right to own a firearm, just as we have the right to vote.
2. For the Sport
The sport of shooting has been around for centuries, even before guns were created. It was commonly practiced through archery until firearms were introduced in the 1300s. Shooting is a very popular activity across the globe and is part of the Olympic Games as well. Olympic shooting events include pistol shooting, rifle shooting, trapshooting and skeet, and small-bore rifle shooting.
3. Self Defense & Protection
Probably one of the most obvious reasons to own a firearm is to defend yourself, your family and friends, and the innocent. There have been many instances where the good guy with a gun has saved lives. “Well isn’t that what law enforcement is for?” – Yes, it is the duty of police officers to protect and defend us; however, firefighters also protect us and defend us against fires but you don’t see anyone hesitant to own a fire extinguisher.
